Girls lacrosse is officially back at Crystal Springs Uplands School, and the energy surrounding the new team is electric. After more than four years without a program, this squad has hit the ground running with a 3-1 record, showing they’re here to compete. Even more impressive? Many of the players are brand new to the sport, proving that with the right mix of effort, teamwork, and coaching, anything is possible.
At the front of the charge is Head Coach Stu, a former Division I men’s lacrosse player, who brings both experience and enthusiasm to the program. His focus isn’t just on winning games, but on growing the sport at Crystal and helping players develop a genuine love for lacrosse. “One of my favorite parts of coaching is seeing a player pick up a stick for the first time and learn the game,” he shared. “It’s very inspiring to me to see them ‘get it’ and start getting hooked on the sport I love so much. I’m hopeful about the direction of the team and the growth of girls lacrosse at Crystal.”
That growth is already visible, not just in the team’s record but in the bond they’ve built along the way. Freshman Sherry Chen highlights what makes this team special: “Crystal lacrosse has been so much fun so far, especially being with this group of girls. I love how supportive and kind everyone is, and the energy we have creates such a positive environment. The feedback we get from each other and the coach helps us become both better lacrosse players and teammates. I can’t wait to see how we progress throughout the season.”
For many, this season has been about more than just learning how to cradle, pass, or shoot—it’s been about stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing something new. “There have been a lot of opportunities to try new things, and our coach and teammates have been very encouraging,” said freshman Peyton Fisher. “It has been exciting to see our successes in our games, and I hope for that to continue. Overall, it has been a really fun experience.”
From picking up a stick for the first time to celebrating goals on game day, this season has already been a defining one for Crystal Lacrosse!
