After weeks of continuous school and stress, it’s time to take a break! With Spring Break so close, let’s dive into the best places to travel for this much-anticipated 2 weeks off of school. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure, or cultural exploration, there’s a perfect destination waiting for you to recharge and make the most of your time away.

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

For all the adventurous families out there, Grand Canyon National Park has so much to offer. It is often dubbed as one of the “seven natural wonders of the world” and is home to various animals, plants, and of course, beautiful landscapes. The park welcomes all hikers and park-goes regardless of experience level and pretty much anyone can admire the rust colored formations. Between April and October is the perfect time to raft “the big ditch” with a guide, as warm, sunny days bring perfect contrast to the 50° Colorado River. 

New York City, New York

The city that never sleeps: New York City! Beyond the iconic landmarks, New York City offers world-class museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History, perfect for curious minds of all ages. Broadway’s dazzling theater scene brings stories to life, while street performers and musicians add to the city’s electric energy. Food lovers can indulge in everything from classic hot dogs, soft pretzels, and NY style pizza to globally inspired eats at bustling food markets like Chelsea Market and Smorgasburg. Whether you’re exploring the bright lights of Times Square or taking a ferry to the Statue of Liberty, NYC is an adventure waiting to happen.

San Diego, California

Despite being close to home, this destination has a lot to offer. From its many beautiful beaches to incredible food San Deigo is a top vacation destination. This city is known as “America’s Finest City,” for its crisp weather and a skyline framed with panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Many people will especially fall in love with the non-human friends who call San Diego home. There’s a lot of action at the legendary San Diego Zoo, the thrilling Sea World, and the all adventure Belmont Park. For even more wildlife, like amiable belly-slapping seals, head north to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and for even more high adrenaline rides, head to Disney Land up in Los Angeles. 

Kyoto, Japan

The ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto is a treasure trove of temples, shrines, and traditional buildings, including the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine and Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion). With the exchange rates low, Japan is a great destination for travelers looking to experience its rich history, culture, and cuisine without breaking the bank. Stroll through the enchanting Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, witness the beauty of cherry blossoms in Maruyama Park, or savor Kyoto’s renowned food scene. From delicate kaiseki dining to comforting bowls of yudofu (tofu hot pot) and flavorful yatsuhashi sweets, the city offers a feast for the senses. Don’t miss Nishiki Market, where you can sample fresh seafood, matcha treats, and Kyoto’s signature obanzai, blending tradition with culinary excellence.

Honolulu, Hawaii

A tropical paradise with a vibrant city vibe, Honolulu offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Lounge on the golden sands of Waikiki Beach, hike up Diamond Head for breathtaking views, or explore the rich history of Pearl Harbor and Iolani Palace. The city’s food scene is just as exciting, with fresh poke bowls, loco moco, malasadas, and shaved ice providing a true taste of the islands. Outdoor enthusiasts can surf world-famous waves, snorkel in Hanauma Bay’s crystal-clear waters, or take a scenic drive along the stunning Oahu coastline. Puerto Rico

Cancun, Mexico

Miami, Florida

For those seeking a mix of beach vibes and city excitement, Miami delivers. Soak up the sun on South Beach, admire the colorful Art Deco architecture, or take a stroll through the vibrant streets of Little Havana for authentic Cuban coffee and pastelitos. Beyond the nightlife, families can explore the Miami Seaquarium, take an airboat ride through the Everglades, or visit the interactive Frost Science Museum. Just a few hours away, Orlando offers the magic of Walt Disney World, where you can experience thrilling rides, meet beloved characters, and watch dazzling fireworks. With its tropical atmosphere, lively culture, and easy access to world-famous attractions, Miami is an unforgettable spring break getaway.

Washington, D.C.

For a mix of history and adventure, Washington, D.C. is a fantastic spring break destination. Visit the National Mall, where you can see the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and U.S. Capitol all in one day. The Smithsonian museums, from the Air and Space Museum to the National Museum of Natural History, offer endless opportunities to learn and explore—for free! In the spring, the city comes alive with cherry blossoms, making a stroll along the Tidal Basin even more magical. For a change of pace, take a boat ride on the Potomac River, visit the historic Georgetown neighborhood, or explore the vibrant food scene at local markets. With its rich history, free attractions, and stunning spring scenery, D.C. is a great choice for travelers of all ages.

Sneak Peek At Crystal’s Plans 

Now transitioning to Crystal’s travel plans! After asking multiple Crystal Students about their Spring Break plans, here are some of the destinations your classmates and teachers will be visiting this year. Some students are exploring the East Coast with trips to cities like New York and Philly, while others are venturing far beyond, including tropical getaways in Hawaii and Costa Rica, and even international destinations like Thailand and Japan. Whether it’s relaxing on beautiful beaches, hiking through scenic landscapes, or experiencing vibrant cultures, it looks like everyone has something incredible in store for their break this year.

In addition to personal vacations, our school is sending students on amazing trips as well. Several groups will be exploring the rich histories and cultures of China, Spain, Japan, and Italy. From the ancient wonders of the Great Wall to the art and architecture of Italy, these school trips promise to offer unforgettable experiences. We wish all the students and PAC members embarking on these exciting journeys a safe and enjoyable time—we hope you return with new insights and memories to cherish!
